Unwritten Stories

Who are they?
What are their stories?
How did they get here?
How can they get out of here?

The homeless.  Often forgotten and left alone.

After serving at a local soup kitchen today, I continue to ask myself these question.  These are valuable human beings, with a mind, will and emotions.  And so many of them are broken and at a loss.

I cannot forget one specific man.  He was an older gentleman, who was fairly well taken care of.  He came through the lunch line, had his fill and waited outside for extra or donated food.  He was always pleasant.  His last time through the line, with a smile on his face, he exclaimed, "You guys are the best!"

So joyful.
So thankful.
And seemingly misplaced.

How did he get to this place?
What is his story?
Will he ever overcome his situation?

These too are the children of God.  These too have hopes, dreams and love.  These too, should not and cannot, be forgotten.
